Cutting Edge Design

In one word- Wow! The sites I have viewed are amazing and truly cutting edge on the 2Advanced Studios web site. The 2Advanced Studios site is like looking at a whole new world. Each page shows a landscape in 3D detail as one can do using Adobe Flash. The detail is intricate yet easily viewable. One who browses the site knows just where to click to get where they need and to learn more about the company and the work that they have accomplished. Check out the site: http://2advanced.com/

The next site I viewed was for FWA or Favorite Website Awards (http://www.thefwa.com/). I can see why these sites won awards. I viewed several an each was interactive, informative with clean, balanced design. I love the site for Sour Sally, a frozen yogurt company. It is an animated site with a little Sour Sally trying to get up to a large dish of frozen yogurt. The viewer is able to move Sally (via their mouse) so that she can eventually get to the yogurt by flying through the air holding a balloon. Other characters go across the page including a flying elephant. At the top of the screen is a whole world of yogurt with a yogurt machine. The music on the site reminds one of an ice cream truck. This is really cute and entertaining for the viewer. There is also an interactive cartoon menu which gives information on such things as the company and the products. http://www.mysoursally.com/

On the total opposite end of the spectrum, the last site I reviewed was Web Pages that Suck. This is an extremely informative web site for it gives one examples of things that should never be done on a web site. It is just so hard to believe how bad some sites are. From what I could tell a lot of the problem is that many of the sites attempt to do way too much on a web page. A contender for one of the worst web sites in 2008 is http://www.havenworks.com/
It is just so bad that it gives the viewer a headache looking at all the links. It is truly unreadable for it would be impossible to find any information on this site. One would never know where to click. Many more examples can be found at: http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/
